AU Permissions and Attribution Library Workshop for Dissertations

AU Permissions and Attribution Library Workshop for Dissertations In-Person

As you prepare for writing your dissertation, questions about permissions and fair use arise. Who owns copyright to the material I cite? Can I simply say where I found this information?

There are a lot of factors and nuances to the conversation, and this workshop is designed to get you thinking about the necessary questions as you work with third-party material.

We'll walk throught the basics of permissions, fair use, copyright and attribution in an overview fashion, providing a few examples along the way. We'll also cover some resources that will help you ask for permission in the right way, from the right people.

As it is only an hour, it is not designed to be a comprehensive discussion of the topic, and I am not a copyright lawyer. This discussion will showcase some of the overarching issues for you to consider as early in the process as possible.
